While I was still nursing my second child, La Leche League (a group
dedicated to brestfeeding) issued a warning to all pregnant women about
eating potatos with any green on the skins because of the potential to
cause a certain type of birth defect.I know the green usually comes from
exposure to light but I think potato blight looks very similar. You had
to injest a substantial amount over a period of time (the study cited
involved farm women in Idaho who ate the blighted potatoes unfit for
market) but the connection was there.
