Since this comes up now and then I thought I'd send this reply to the list.
All you have to do is look in any dictionary and you will find something
like this: spelt   (spelt)  n.a primitive wheat, Triticum spelta, native to
S Europe and W Asia: used chiefly for livestock feed.  -vance
