I wrote this for myself to get the finer points of using the batch mode
with Ecofax, v2.12, registered version. It may be of help to some on the
list. Of course, one can completely avoid using batch facilities with
Ecofax, and the interface is very simple in that case. The web page for
Ecofax is located at:

Sending Faxes in Batch Mode with the Registered Ecofax Program
When sending a fax in batch mode with Ecofax, you type the name of the
program, a space, followed by switches and arguments associated with
that switch. Each switch consists of a (/) slash, then a letter
(either f, n, or t). After each switch letter, a space must occur,
followed by the specific argument for that particular switch.
Switches for Sending in Batch Mode
/f - followed by the path and name of file you are faxing.
Example: ecofax /f c:\down\myfile.txt
/n - Followed by the number you are faxing, which may contain the (*)
asterisk character, (#) pound sign, (,) comma, and (-) dash, as
needed. Commas cause a two second pause while dialing, *67 blocks
caller ids from receiving your number and/or name, and *70 blocks
call waiting while you send your fax, and dashes can make the number
you are faxing more readable with screen readers. If you use the
/n switch, you MUST use the /f switch.
Example: ecofax /f c:\down\myfile.txt /n *67,*70,555-1212
/t - Followed by a number. This is an optional switch which works only
when the /f switch is present. Tells ecofax how many additional
attempts should be made after the first attempt, in case the fax
number you are calling is busy. An error message in Ecofax
indicates that the /t switch can only be used with the /f and /n
switches in combination, but this is incorrect. See below.
Example: ecofax /f c:\down\myfile.txt /n *67,*70,555-1212 /t 3
Faxing Selected Numbers From Your Default
Fax Book With Multiple Attempts
Use the /f and the /t switch. This is not documented in the ecofax help
files. With this combination, you will enter your default fax book file
from which you can select the specific numbers you want to call multiple
times, in case the line is busy. The following example will call each
selected number 4 times, the original attempt, plus three additional.
Example: ecofax /f c:\down\myfile.txt /t 3
Faxing All the Phone Numbers from a Fax Book File
The /n switch is used for this feature. Think of the /n switch as
meaning "faxing a NUMBER or NAME of a fax book". The fax book file
MUST have the extension of "fbk". You precede the fax book name with the
(@) at sign, and you don't need to use the "fbk" extension when
identifying the fax book.
Example: ecofax /f c:\down\myfile.txt /n @people
This would send the contents of the file "myfile.txt" to each number
listed in the "people.fbk" fax book file. (If you fax from the \ecofax
directory, then "people.fbk" should be in the same directory for this
example.)
Using an ASCII Editor to Create a Fax Book File
Each line of the file contains an entry consisting of a name, followed
by a semicolon (;), a space, then the number you associate with the
name. Do not end the file with a blank line. Here is an example of
three entries, which can be saved to "people.fbk", for instance. These
are all fictitious entries.
Catherine's Kitty Cafe; 1-872-292-3000
Roberto Pinotnoir; *67,*70,1-987-203-0303
The Read Paper; 555-1000
You may find it easier to use the build-in fax book maintenance features
of ecofax to create this "fbk" file, your choice.
