Greetings fellow list members. I am a relatively recent
subscriber to the list, and have learned quite a few things
from everyone. I am not visually impaired myself, however I
work with someone who is, and that is the subject of my
message. The company that I work at uses Netscape Navigator
3.0 (no that's not a mistake) for internet access, and also
for the company intranet. My department - I work in a phone
center - puts its reference info on "call guides" that we
access via Netscape. My co-worker is using a downloadable
version of it right now, because it is easier for her to
access it in that manner. Everything is text-based.
The major problem is that we use a lot of ebedded text
links, and obviously my coworker cannot always access all
the links. The solution we've come up with so far is to
delineate the parameters of each link with asterisks. No,
it's not very elegant, and I'm wondering if there's
something better that we can do. In searching various
websites I have found that most accessibility solutions
involve Internet Explorer. Unfortunately this is not an
option for us because IE does not interact well with certain
programs we use and will cause them to crash. Basically
what I'm looking for is if there is some sort of
Netscape-compatible plug-in, or an HTML coding solution that
we can use. I'm still searching myself but would like to
solicit the comments of list members on this subject too.
Any help, comments and suggestions you have are much
appreciated, and you may either post or send me e-mail
directly - my address is listed at the end of this message.
Thanks in advance.
