Hi Bill,
I also have been successful with Presision Scan.  I am using that HP 5100 C
scanner also.  My comment is that in Omni Page Pro 8, you can use the
wizzardand it allows you set up the style of your document, single or
multiple columns.  You are given the option of removing all formatting
which I do.   Jaws then will read the document very well.
