Hello...

   I see your problem. One good way to free up Com2 would be to get a
jumperable internal modem, (or one that can be installed on Com 3 or 4)
This will free up Com2 on the back of your computer.

   You LPT port is anther story. Usually, LPT1 is set for the port on your
MB, but if it's working as LPT2... hey... why worry? But you still need
another LPT port. I just looked thru my catalogs and see an adapter card
that plugs into a free ISA slot. It's a dual serial and dual parallel port
adapter. Check the specs on them, as the pne I'm looking at supports LPT2
and 3 only. You'll have to set the jumpers for the correct ports on both
the serial and parallel, but this should get you a couple more ports.
