OK. External modem is connected via com port. You may have to purchase
the 'transformers' (? what is the right word?) from 9 to 25 pins or
from male to female connectors according to the config on modem
and the PC.

Serial mouse will occupy the second com port.

If you need more ports, you can add an additional i/o card (+1
parallel and 2 serial, typical) but be aware that only one COM out of
each pair (1-3, 2-4) can be used simultaneously - for ex., if modem is
COM1 and labeler COM3 then they can't be worked with at the same time.
