I haven't tried with the new generation cartridges, but in HP 500 series
days, I found that I could reliably refill a cartridge twice. The third
time always seemed to present problems of one sort or another.
One other thing I found was that you have to be careful of the brand and
type of ink you use. There are many different additives which are used, as
well as the quality of the ink. For my HP 510, I used PELIKAN refill ink.
