  I must also say I did not have good luck with the OLDER Maxtor drives (2 of
4 went bad within the warranty period). However, in fairness, I must say that
since they completely redesigned their IDE drives (and renamed them
DiamondMax and DiamondMax Plus) about 3 years ago, I have not had a single
Maxtor drive go bad on me (out of about a dozen I've used). They are also
much faster and quieter than they used to be. IMHO, the DiamondMax line of
drives is a very good value for the money.
