I can't believe this...
The problem was with the mouse. I use a serial & PS/2 mouse
with a little switch on the bottom on my workbench. This
particular mouse has a problem with some PB motherboards. I
learned this from the company that sells PB replacement
parts.
As soon as I hooked up a new PS/2 mouse, the keyboard
worked fine!!
