Bruce Tothschild of the Arthritis Centre of Northeast Ohio in Youngstown
and colleagues say they found evidence in the arms and legs in T-Rex of
gout.

The newspaper article suggests consumption of red meat is a known
contributor to gout.

Apparently these findings were released Wednesday and I was wondering if
anyone had more in depth knowledge of what was actually in the findings?

The arthritic condition of gout today is most common in males (90%) as
compared to females and occurs mostly between the ages of 40 and 50. Some
of the causes suggested in the book I'm looking at are crash dieting,
overeating, stress, injury and it may be inherited.

One of the important ways of lowering serum uric acid appears to be
ensuring adequate intake of vitamin C -- something that is readily
available in a NeanderThin Diet because of the consumption of grapefruit,
strawberries etc that are both relative low in "sugar" carbs and a good
source of fibre for those interested in weight loss and for those
maintaining weight an even wider range of vegetables and fruits rich in C
in bioflavonoids.

Strawberries along with cherries have a neutralizing effect on uric acid.

It was interesting to note in a previous post that North American Indians
added cherries to flavour their pemmican.

Also, the emphasis on a NeanderThin diet is to eat nuts that are are raw
because roasting (act of heating oil turning it rancid) destroys vitamin E
resulting in the release of increased amounts of uric acid.

There appears to be definite advantages with regards to many forms of
arthritis including gout of the NeanderThin Lifestyle.
