I recently had a bad gluten accident after eating out at a restaurant.
Symptoms included: severe nausea, severe diarrhea, achiness in neck and
back and a low grade fever. The symptoms lasted one night and caused me to
be very dehydrated. I ended up at the urgent care next day to get a shot
for the nausea and three bags intravenous fluids. (no one else got sick, so
we are pretty sure that it was not food poisoning)
Then the chest pain started. I attributed this to the stress and strain
from vomiting so violently. The Dr. at the urgent care thought that I had
aspirated some of the fluids, and felt that this was the problem. She put
me on antibiotics. The pain and chest tightness lasted two days.
Now I am not so sure that either she or I were correct. How many of us
suffer from chest pain and shortness of breath with a gluten incident? Is
this a symptom of the disease, or is it something else entirely?
Any learned types on the list who have an opinion as to the cause?
TIA,
Lynda Swink
