They are probably very useful, otherwise they would not be there, and
no banana either as it is there just for the seeds to be eaten and
transported by some animal. When planting bananas is another thing,
just as potatoe seeds are seldom used by humans either (they result
in new poatoe "species" while planting potato tubers result in
genetically the same individual. Probably something similar with
bananas. After some generations of seed-grown bananas we would perhaps
not recignize them. At least they would be less similar than now.
