} That's true - lactose is a double sugar that needs to be broken down by
} lactase.  Allergies are to proteins.  It is nearly impossible to separate
} all of the proteins from the sugar to get a pure source.  I know my dairy
} and corn allergic kids react to the sugars of both.

How about the SomethingOrOther-lactate and lactic-SomethingOrOther
ingredients?  Same problem?

Shall I shun everything that has the string "lact" in it or are some of them
safe?
