True, and that is what we do with our son also.  But federal law does mandate
that a public school provide allergy free substitutes for any child who wants
to purchase a meal.  I wouldn't take a chance with my anaphylactic-to-milk
eight year old, but when he is older--or in college--he may want to make that
kind of choice for himself.
