thanks to askjeeves.com, i was able to lock onto the Global Exchange
where it gave the Accords, the disputed clause changes and much other
information that was helpful. nevertheless, the site presumes more
knowledge of Mexican-Indian events in Chiapas than i have, so i'm still
interested in the answers to my more basic questions.

michael's source made me aware that other regions like Tabasco and
Guerrero also have "class struggles" too, but i can't tell yet whether
they are strictly Indian vs. Mexican (why the dichotomy when most are
both races? weird!) or involve other disputes too.

between Guerrero and Chiapas is Oaxaca. why no unrest there? surely
there are plenty of Indians in Oaxaca. (on my wall is a hand-made carpet
made by Oaxaca Indians that i bought on a business sidetrip to Tijuana
long ago.)

my "History of Mexico" by Henry B. Parkes was written in 1960, so it
doesn't even mention modern Indian problems.

any more leads out there?
