Being _very_ specific, the average air temperature will fall; but
near the components' "hot spots" the air will be, on average, hotter
due to no air flow, so while running case-off seems to be "colder",
it actually is only for the CPU [it has its own means of providing
air-flow], that's why overclockers do that - for them, the
"cruciallest" need is to keep the CPU cold; other components will benefit
only if you can provide a good ventilation.
Once, I also thought that running w/o case is good, but I have
changed my mind since then. The dangers of running w/o case [spilling,
dust, etc.] are overweighing the slight benefit.
