Have you seen the output from some of the dye sublimation printers -
such as are used in the photographic pre-press business?  This is the
sort of equipment used to produce the "masters" for color catalogs, fine
prints, and the like.  Visit a high-end printer and ask to see some samples.
Be aware that this equipment is EXPENSIVE.
