(Borrowing Jane's soapbox)
I have to second what Jane said about getting additional
opinions and the pain of a gall stone attack. It is very
hard to make an informed decision when you are in extreme
pain. In my case, the duct from the gall bladder that
empties into the common duct with the liver was totally
blocked. The stone would not pass. Ultrasound was not yet in
use for stones. I had been told 10 years before that my gall
bladder was "sluggish." The doctor told me this meant the
bile was thick and that stones were a very real possibility.
He prescribed medication to thin the bile and this worked
for several years. The manufacturer discontinued the
medication and no alternative were available. A few years
later, my gall bladder was removed. I did NOT know about
eating the paleo way until the past year, so I can't say if
that would have made a difference in my case or not.
