I just got a NoteBook w/ P200 w/mmx and a Toshiba 2.16G HD. For 3 days I
had no problems, today(sat.) I turned it on and I got the "operating system
not found" message. If I boot from floppy and try to access C: I get
"invalid drive specification". BIOS recognizes the drive correctly, but I
can't get to it. I ran Norton Utilities Rescue(ver 3.08?) which is fully
updated for W98, and it tells me there is no boot sector and the drive
needs a Low Level Format!! DR.Hard utility says it's a Controller problem!!
I didn't drop or mishandle the computer and it's STILL under warranty, so
I know I can get it replaced. I'm just wondering if there is anything I can
try till Tech Support opens Monday? I don't have a Utility for low level
formatting a Toshiba Drive.
Any help appreciated, Email me direct if you want.
