Hi Lara

Botox is the botulism toxin from the clostridium bacteria which blocks nerve impulses
and therefore decreases the spasticity. It is given through a series of injections and
it works alot better on small muscle groups than large muscle groups.

The effects wear off after 2-3 months and have to be repeated again. Also the body
develops a resistance to them after a period of time and more has to be given for
it to be effective.

Hope this helps

Alan
