To add "to" this thread, have you tried Intel's web site if the chip is made
by them? http://www.intel.com/ I d/l the utility and installed it on my Win
98 machine. It places an icon in the system tray. Once the utility is
installed, right clicking on the menu brings up the setting and you can
re-enable the processor serial number ID feature. HTH. :-)
