Any wa y to determine if a Celeron 333 has died or if it's the mb?

Have a Celeron 333 on a Abit BH6 motherboard.

Opened case to add a hd and wnet to power up and nada.
So pulled off new HD and still nada.
Finally ended up with generic VGA card, mb, Celeron and floppy and nada.
Devices whir, but nothing shows on the monitor.
No beeps, no noise, no nothing.....
Checked monitor and it's ok.

But how do you check CPU when you don't have another mb?
