Hi,
Id be grateful for help on this one it really has me stumped!
I am trying fit a Raite Bravo 102 DVD drive into a SCSI system, without
much success. The system is as follows:
AMDk6-2/350
128Mb PC100 SDRAM
PC CHIPS M590 Mobo (On board SiS graphics 8Mb/ sound)
Seagate ST15230N SCSI Hawk 4.3Gb (ID6)
Adaptec AHA 2920 SCSI card
Phillips 6x2x2 re-writer (scsi id2)
Plextor Ultraplex 32x reader (scsi id4)
Generic Motorola internal ISA winmodem
Hollywood RealMagic decoder card (PCI)
(running Windows 98)
When I fit the DVD as slave on the secondary IDE port, the system boots
up and works fine until I try to access the DVD (set as drive F:)
then I get the following error message:
An exception 0D has occurred at 0028:000000C0 in VxD ---. This was
called from 0028:C182C108 in VxD scsi1hlp(03) + 00000500. It may be
possible to continue normally
.
Needless to say, it is impossible to continue normally sometimes the
screen will clear and I can shut down the system normally, most of the
time I have to do a hard reset.
The DVD is recognised by BIOS as a CDROM PIO mode 4, 32 Bit on it
makes no difference if I set it as master / slave / secondary / primary
still get the same message.
I have tried it on a friends IDE based system it worked fine once I
had disabled his CD Drive, leaving the DVD as the sole CD/DVD drive
(otherwise it wouldnt complete the boot up process into Win 95
properly)
Any suggestions will be gratefully received would I be better off
getting a scsi dvd (do they exist? )
Many thanks
Andy Smith
