The green light stays on all of the time on my Ricoh MP6200S drive whether
or not there is a disk in it. The color changes to red when the disk is
active. Does yours change color? If so, it might be using the Ricoh
engine. Many manufactures use Ricoh internals.

Rick asks a new question:
I'm having an odd thing happen.
On this CD-RW, The green light stays ON
if there is "any" disk in the drive.
This is at a time when there is NO activity
concerning the drive --- at all.
I think that should not happen.
(I called the factory, changed some settings,
but it still does it...)
Am I right? Is this a "difference" peculiar
to CD-RW drives? (My "normal" CD-ROM
drives can sit for hours at a time with
disks in them and their lights are OFF.
Ummm %-( Rick
