Dear List,

My first post to the list in a long time, but I have to add that I hope
someone out there will consider one of these Exchange Students that has
been mentioned on the list. My family has had 17 that have actually
lived with us either for a year or six months. We had many come and stay
as long as a week or more while someone looked for a family for them. My
husband and I were coordinators for Youth For Understanding for a long
time and I can say with Pamela that we are a family. Our daughter was
also an exchange student and lived in Germany with her German sister who
lived with us in California. We now have too many foreign grandchildren
to mention. We too have kids call and want to come for a visit because
one of our "kids" said to call mom and dad when you get to the states
and they will have a place for you to stay for a while. These kids we
have had were not celiacs but lived on the diet after my husband was
diagnosed many years ago.

It takes a family who wants to learn about another culture yet treat the
kids as if they were a member of your family and not a guest.

We are older now and don't have room for a student and these kids really
need a home where there are kids their own age. I too hope someone will
consider one of these two mentioned. Our blessings have been great for
having these kids in our lives.
