After extensive research of the new Macintosh line, and after owning a Mac for almost 3
years, it has become evident that Apple simply isn't going to cut it. The 2 family
businesses I'm becoming involved in, which were, from the start, dedicated and heavily
invested MAC shops, have decided to begin the switch to the INTEL environment.

And so am I.

So, I'm now looking for the most informative, yet brief, overview of screenreader
setups and screen magnification systems for WINDOWs. I have decreased vision, so I
can see my way easily around the screen. But, I'm looking for a good system to take any
amount of TEXT and read it aloud or magnify it. It's mostly TEXT that I'm concerned
about.

I am also going to purchase a scanner and OCD software to translate printed material
into speechoutput. I want to integrate this hardware and software into the same system.

So, in escense what I'm looking for is a list of hardware and software that I'll need for
screenreading, scanning, optical character recognition, and speech. And maybe in the
not too distant future, speech RECOGNITION.

I'm in search of an overall product review and comparison, if there is such a thing. You
know, the PC Magazine type of cost, capabilities, ease of use, reliability etc. review.

Of course, I could spend hours looking for such a thing, but I just thought I'd drop a
note to the list here first, to see if anybody knew of a lead, or preferably a LINK, that
would get me closer...faster.

Thank you all in advance.
