here's a strange one for the list.

my box consists of:
amd 133mhz 586
36 meg memory
1.44 3.5 floppy (a:)
1.2 5.25 floppy (b:)
24x cdrom (f:)
16bit soundblaster card
33.6 internal modem
80 meg western digital hd drivespaced to aprox 160 meg (c:)
2.7 gig maxtor hd partitioned(d: & e:)
iomega external parralell port zip drive (g:)
win95 4.00.950
ami bios
today i purchased a new hd to upgrade my system.
it's a 1.2 gig western digital.
i planned on replacing my c: drive with it and copy the contents of
c:(pretty much just tthe os and support files ) to it.
i mounted the drive, unplugged the maxtor's ribbon cable and plugged in
the new western digital drive. yes i set the slave jumper.
i rebooted to the bios setup.
amibios auto configured the new drive.
i dig out my trusty emergency boot disk to format the new drive and lo
and behold, my machine boots from c:.
i reboot about 20 times with the same result, box won't boot from a:.
ok i figure, disk is corrupted(been a while since i used it)
machine boots to win95 i open explorer, disk is fine.
 i make another boot disk.
same result.
2 hours later i realize that a: drive is not being recognized at
startup. i think to myself ok 3.5 crapped on me. i switch cables on
floppies make 5.25 a: and pat myself on the back.
2.5 hours later i put the whole thing back to it's original config and
write this plea for help!!

any clues as to why i can't boot from floppy?
tried EVERYTHING .
strange thing is that win95 sees both floppies after it loads up,but
not before.
