What kind of ivy?  What kind of stone?  Generally by products are nitrous
acid, sulfuric acid and nitric badies, not to mention clogging pores with
soot, carbons and crusting.  If Gabriel or Lucia Popian are lurking they
should make a comment.  By the way we recently removed some stone Dutchman
and found roots to ivy which had grown 4 to 6 inches behind the surface of
the stone.
