For what its worth, I am working on a McKim (ex Richardson employee)building
at Amherst Mass,1893,which seems to have had a pink pointing mortar,
certainly it was struck with a fine line.

Leland,

I'm working on H.H. Richardson's GlessneR House right now, ChIcago,1892.
The
pink Mass. granite is pointed with a pink "pointing" mortar (outer 1/2")
which
was struck with a narrow bead.
Maybe thIs will help date your mortar.
Anne
