I want to preface this summary by saying that some tunas have HVP in it
that may have gluten. Some tunas packed in broth may have gluten. The
individual company has to be contacted to find out if it does or
doesn't. Thank you all for responding.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Seasons tuna has no gluten and no
casein.Deep Sea is another brand that is safe.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is a brand called "365" available at Whole Foods Markets/Bread &
Circus Stores. Ingredients say Tuna and Spring Water. No reactions to
this brand.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At health food stores there
are several brands of "tongol tuna" which have no additives - though I
haven't seen any white meat, only chunk light. Tongol is a type of tuna
and not a brand name.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The low-sodium canned tunas have only tuna and water. No casein, broth.
Most brands have low sodium tunas in the HFS.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One perso  found that the few tuna cans still available that are packed
with olive oil and not water do not cause  any casein type problems, so
I assume there is no casein in them. Goya is one supplier.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
StarKist is casein free but not white meat Albacore.Starkist and
BumbleBee have a low salt version that contains onl tuna and deionized
water.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Appears that all the white tuna has casein and the light chunk tuna is
c/f. Just look for the Kosher symbol. A U with a circle around it. If it
has a D next to it, it has milk (dairy) in some form. Chicken of the Sea
chunk light tuna is g/f and c/f.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is
no company to be found that has White Meat Albacore tuna on the shelf at
this time that is g/f and c/f. Rosalie NJ
