Hello Fellow listers!
About a month ago I assembled a system
from an AsusP5-A, which is a 100mhz. super 7 board. I used an Intel
233MMx, 64Meg sdram, fujitsu 3.4 mb hd, generic sound card, Cardinal
connecta (actually a US robotics) 2X and an ATI video card. It worked
pretty well. Sunday at a computer show, I got the 100 mhz bug and
purchased an AMD K6-2 350mhz. chip as well as 64 meg pc 100 SDRAM, also
a Phoebe K56 PCI Modem. I Installed all of my new goodies as well as a
8.5 Seagate. Set all of my jumpers properly, etc and proceeded to
install win98. Here's where I got my problems. I can only get it to
install to the point where it searches for any plug n' play or non plug
n' pray devices the machine either throws an illegal or I get a blue
screen. I have tried re-formatting and re- installing, I keep getting
not too much further on the install.
Could this be an equipment conflict or, is there something I'm missing?
I've done many machines and haven't had this issue before.
Does anybody have any advice on what's going on here? I thank you in
advance for any assistance.
