Does anybody have any suggestions for a friend of mine who just had
a hard drive crash? The machine is running Win95 B and was turned off
by her son without shutting down. When she booted the computer the next
time, it ran scandisk just like you would expect. However, it got about
halfway through and locked up. She turned it off and tried to boot
again, but it dies at the flying windows screen. We have tried to get
the important files off but haven't been able to. If you go to the
command prompt you can get a directory of everything, but when you try
to copy it or anything, it comes back with can't read from drive c:. We
have tried using a boot disk and then copying but that doesn't work
either. Any ideas? Or is it time for her to bite the bullet and
reformat?
