I am not sure if it is true of all motherboards, but mine has the AGP slot,
PCI slot 1, and PCI slot 5 share the same interrupt. Since the AGP interrupt
is important for video, the device going into PCI slot 1 or 5 can't be a bus
mastering device. Although a sound card is not bus mastering, it does often
cause conflicts. Anybody have additional input?

splash screen) and then start booting again. I remember seeing where it was
recommended to try another slot so I did. I moved the card into slot #2 and
it seems to work OK. Is this a common thing and why does the slot make a
difference?
