I have a manual for a TRIDENT TVGA 8900CL card and there is no indication
of irq usage. I don't think video cards used irqs until vlb and pci cards
came out. However there is a hell of a lot of jumpers, enable zero wait
state, type of monitor used whether interlaced or not interlaced, also bios
autodetect for the video card as to what type of slot the card sits in.
Had another similar card but cannot find the manuel.
I don't think this would have anything to do with your cd rom problem
