My son has had severe milk allery since an infant and we've had no
problem with growth and weight gain. He's tall for his age and
average weight so he's slim and very muscular. He'll be 7 years in a
few months. I would think that as long as the allergic food is
avoided (completely) and that a child is eating a well rounded
nutritious diet that weight gain would be a non-issue. Of course,
your child's kidney problems complicates the issue but it seems as if
the allergy would not be a contributing factor here.

Hello!
Thanks for all of your earlier responses to my introduction message. I am
still trying to work my way through them and reply if necessary!
So, exactly how many of you with children who have milk allergies had
problems with weight gain? Jonathan is only 17 lbs at one year but this could
also be attributed to his kidney problems. Most children with renal failure
don't grow well. He is a candidate for growth hormone.
Thanks!
Kelly
