This discussion seems to be going in two separate but combined directions:
1) were the symptoms of a particular event due to a virus, and 2) can some
kind of reaction result in some or all of the described symptoms. Let's set
aside the specific episode and look at the overall pattern. If some set of
symptoms occurs repeatedly with every exposure, there's clearly some kind
of reaction occurring. The question is, what kind? While there is some
overlap in LI symptoms and diary allergy symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea,
cramping), it's usually pretty easy to distinguish between the two (usually
because, with allergy, there are classic allergic symptoms as well). But
there may indeed be some third kind of reaction occurring. I vaguely recall
reading about milk as being capable of triggering both IgG- and
IgE-mediated reactions. Would someone with more medical training care to
comment on the differing symptoms that may result from each?
