THink about insulin pump therapy. My now 16 yr old son with CD since age 7,
diabetes since age 8 has been using the pump since age 11. I am a diabetes
educator who has done pump education on a fair number of other children ages
9-16 and the younger ones do very well with it. Sometimes people don't pursue
it because their doctors are not into it. Starting that kind of change at age
11 or 12 is easier than at age 16 or 17. With my son it really helped.
