This is from Minnesota, but I thought for those of you who are
interested in the issue of racial profiling, you may want to be aware of
this report and it's contents.

Today, the Council on Crime and Justice released the results of a
state-wide racial profiling study.

The study analyzed traffic stop data collected by law enforcement
officers in 65 jurisdictions across Minnesota.  It is one of the most
comprehensive racial profiling studies undertaken.  It was conducted
jointly by the Council on Crime and Justice and the Institute on Race
and Poverty at the University of Minnesota Law School.

The basic finding of the study is that drivers of color are
over-represented among those stopped; over-represented among those
searched; and under-represented among those found to have contraband on
their person or in their vehicle as a result of being searched.  There
are many nuances to the findings.  They are best understood by reading
the reports.
