PLEASE DISTRIBUTE WIDELY

There are two great opportunities to support Domestic Abuse Intervention
Services (DAIS) during the week of October 28th. Please participate if you
are able, and let your friends, family, and co-workers know about these fun events!

1) Tuesday, October 29: DAIS Benefit Book Fair at Barnes & Noble, 7433
Mineral Point Road, with Jacquelyn Mitchard. This Madison author has
achieved national popularity with her books, including being the first
author featured on Oprah's Bookclub. Starting at 7:00 p.m. she will read
from "A Theory of Relativity," answer questions from the audience, and sign books purchased that evening.

A percentage of the sales at Barnes & Noble that evening, including books, magazines, music, café items, and calendars (everything but purchases of gift certificates), will go to DAIS. Please be sure to pick up a voucher from the DAIS volunteers at the store to ensure that your purchases count for the benefit.

2) How often can you dance and dress up, AND support DAIS at the same time? Well, on Friday, November 1, 2002, AXP Fraternity is sponsoring a Crows Festival of Spirits Masquerade Ball to benefit Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS)! The Ball will take place in room 246 of Union South on the UW campus from 6:0011:00 p.m., with music by a Jumptown DJ from 8:00 on.

Tickets are $7 for one person or $10 for a couple at the door.
Pre-purchased tickets are $5 and $8 respectively and can be purchased from a fraternity member or from DAIS (contact Judith Siers-Poisson at

Masks will be available at the door and beverages will be available free of
charge.
