This Sunday, April 2, is MindSparks 2nd annual Midwest Children's Book
Author Fair. All children, families, educators and children's literature
enthusiasts will thoroughly enjoy this free, two hour event.

It is taking place at MindSparks, Madison East, 1601 Thierer Road, between
12:00 - 2:00 PM. (608) 249-9787

11 outstanding authors and illustrators are simultaneously appearing.
Together they have produced more than 250 titles and been recognized by
almost every national children's literature award and book listing.

The program highlights superb books for youth of all ages. Participating
in the program are authors of picture books, chapter books for newly
independent readers, novels for middle and high school students and non-
fiction books.

Headlining the event are David Wiesner, Lois Ehlert and Florence Parry
Heide. David Wiesner (from Fox Point, WI), received five-star coverage,
international praise and his third Caldecott Award for his new wordless
fantasy book, Sector 7. Lois Ehlert, (from Milwaukee) whose colorful blend
of collage and folk art produced some of children's favorite books (Chicka
Chicka Boom Boom among dozens), is releasing at our event Market Day, a new
book about a farmer's market like no other. Florence Parry Heide, (from
Racine) whose gift of prose and humor has generated almost 100 titles for
children during the past 30 years (including The Shrinking of Treehorn with
Edward Gorey's perfect illustrations) has been an important player in the
changing style and role of children's books in the latter-third of the 20th
century.

The Midwest Children's Book Author Fair promises to be a memorable event
for all people interested in children's books. Children will love the
presentations. Adults will enjoy the opportunity to spend time talking with
these remarkable book creators.
