Kaye,

  you can use "neutral" software to transfer files : Norton Commander
and others, which run under 95 & 3.11. I believe there's more programs
that could do this (but you can lose your long filenames... but you
have Win3.11, so you'll lose them anyway).
  But if you want to transfer files via COM port, the speed is about
1.2 Kb per second. You better do it with diskettes...
  I transfer files (when I have no other options) via "null-modem"
on LPT1:, which is at least x8 faster [supported by NC 5.0]
