Thomas,
To a hammer, all things are a nail. And, Sir, your hammer nails almost
any post as if the poster were a zealot, a blind follower of rules, or,
horror of horrors, a conformist. The zealotry you see in others is not in
the posts to which you are responding, and, if not in yourself, from
where? More like you have a dust mote in your eye, so to speak, to coin a
phrase, as it were. It is getting to the point that your posts of
criticsm are mostly a form of autobiograpy, nice to know you.
There might be zealots here on this list, by almost any definition,
excepting possibly yours. My observations are that there are many
ex-zealots here. Name a category, they have been here, are here, or will
be here. Anyone interested in solving the riddle of autoimmune diseases
might be here, any low-carber, any low-calorie dieter (believe or not),
anyone having to do with the so-called mental illnesses of autism or
autism spectrum disorders might be here, vegetarians ( believe it or not)
and ex-vegetarians, anyone who does not want to be fed manufactured food
or are rebelling against SAD, and many more people .... Such (this is
getting to be well-documented) as anyone suffering from grain, milk,
legume, or any allergy. Count your blessings if you have no experience
with some of the trials of the ills that can be grain-, milk-, legume-
related. I don't see much of the blind zelotry that you see here.
In a word, you are rapidly losing your ability to offend.
For awhile there I was hoping you were just trolling. But I don't think
so now. You are obviously, to me anyway, intelligent, and I know you
care. Deep down I think you have been through a lot, and, sticking just
with diets speaking of nothing else, you *have* been through quite a bit,
haven't you? I think you have run into a few things very similar to what
you now see in others. If so (throw a brick at my head if not, and put me
out of my misery) use your intellect and experience to contribute in a
positive way to others. I suspect very strongly that you have a lot to
offer.
I have a few favorite quotations myself. "All things in excess, even
moderation."
"Distrust all generalizations, even this one." (Alexander Dumas)
