For "no bake" pies that usually call for cornstarch, another idea is
unflavored gelatine.  When heating up the pie filling on the stovetop, I
add, depending on how much liquid is in the pie, from one half to one
whole envelope of the Knox brand gelatin.  Works pretty well, but you only
get to eat the pie cold.
