Hi everyone
I think Aimee is being a little hard on "Sully's Living Without"
She comments:
.....I am boycotting this magazine since they are editing
people's comments and changing the portrayal of the
disease. I heard that they do no research before they
interview people....
When I wrote my profile for the magazine there was a certain
amount of editing, as there would be for any other publication,
but the piece was sent back to me, for my approval, before it
went to Press.
Aimee also says:
.......Also they have to dumb things down to a "fourth grade
reading level" for some reason.....
I hope my profile did not come over at the fourth grade level.
Aimee also points out:
.......Also, if doctors disagree about what is safe and what
is not for celiac patients, then how are we supposed to
agree?
Added to her frustration Dr. Dover, writing for Living Without
had different ideas than the doctor Aimee met later.
Her frustration seems to be with the Medical Community
not the magazine.
To discredit a magazine because you dislike the comments
of one of it's accredited contributors, is a little subjective, and
in not very academic. For the few readers who have negative comments to
make there are many who welcome a magazine
which tries to educate the public about our experiences, and
special dietary needs. Sully's Living Without is only in it's
fourth issue, and it was conceived to help us. Let's not be
mean-spirited about it!
