Dear Listmembers, I just saw this in today's newspaper.
"Sara Lee announced Tues. that it was voluntarily recalling
vaarious meats processed at its Bil Mar Foods Inc. facility
in Zeeland, Mich., inc. some Ball Park Hot Dogs, Mr. Turkey
and Sara Lee Deli Meats, because they may contain Listeria bacteria."
Mentioned being recalled: Ball Park, Bil Mar, Bryan Bunsize, and Bryan
3 lb. Club Pack hot dogs, Grillmaster, Hygrade, Mr. Turkey, Sara Lee Deli
Meat and Sara Lee Home Roast brands with Establishment numbers
P261 or P6911. They state that Listerosis can cause flulike symptoms
to appear within about three weeks. They also mentioned that other
cold cuts were contaminated as "deli counter workers seldom clean off
slicing blades between filing orders." This means that the bacteria could
have been spread to other deli meats. It goes on to add that people in
certain categories, one mentioned is people with weakened immune
systems, should avoid deli meats altogether. I thought that I would pass
this along as I have seen some of these products listed as being GF in
the food guides and thought that you would all want to be warned on them
and also the info. that it may not be safe to buy deli meats. Happy
Holidays! Karen from Central NY, USA
