Hi listmembers,
I noticed a few questions about echinacea.
According to Dr. Alessio Fasano, Head of the Center for Celiac Research
Center in Maryland, and Professor of Pediatrics, Medicine, and
Physiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine - there is
no proof that this herb is harmful to celiacs. He sent me an e-mail
saying this just last week.
When I asked the list this question a few months ago, I decided not to
give my 3-year-old celiac daughter echinacea, based on the majority of
advice against it. I think I made a mistake. She has since had four
ear infections in 2 months - complete with antibiotics - and may need
tubes in her ears. I believe that my calculated use of echinacea in the
past saved us from this situation earlier on in her life.
