For your information:

The vOICe seeing-with-sound technology now supports voice commands.

In mobile applications of a wearable computer, it can be rather
cumbersome to access a keyboard to control important settings,
in our case settings that affect the mapping of PC camera images
into headphone stereo sounds. Therefore, The vOICe Learning Edition
now supports speech recognition, allowing you to command The vOICe
to perform specific actions by talking to it.

For instance, when starting to walk you would say "speed" into
the microphone, and The vOICe automatically switches to a doubled
scan rate in order to better perceive movements. When halting to
orient yourself, you'd say "speed" again and The vOICe switches
back to its default scan rate for better perception of detail.
You can say "zoom" to zoom into the central part of the scene,
or say "inverse" to better hear any dark objects on a bright
background via the negative video mode. You say "edges" to turn
the edge enhancement option on or off.

When you say "color", The vOICe identifies the color of anything
in the center of the camera view and speaks out the color name.

More information about the new speech recognition add-on can be
found at the web page

   http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Peter_Meijer/vcommand.htm

It requires The vOICe Learning Edition version 1.22 or later,
and a SAPI compliant speech recognition engine. The software
runs on Windows-95/98/NT Pentium PC's, using stereo headphones
and a regular PC camera such as used for videoconferencing.

Best wishes,

Peter Meijer
