Do the computers appear in pairs and happen to be close to each other?
For LaseJets, you should use a printer ELECTRONIC switch if you could
keep the cable lengths down...
(Under twenty feet for EACH TOTAL leg, and get the IEEE 1284 cables
if you have to...)
They allow automatic sharing with no user intervention.

It is too late, but keeping with the "pair" concept -- Zerox has been
making some nice small fast printers with DUAL inputs for just this
purpose. (# P8)     Rick
