First question would be, have you disabled your COM1 and/or COM2 in your
BIOS
for the motherboard COM ports. If yes. then set them to COM3 and COM4. That
will force the PnP modem to choose 1 or 2 but it will still select a high
IRQ, i.e. above 8. If you need it to chose IRQ 3 or 4 as well as COM 1 or 2
then you might try setting the motherboard com ports of one to disable and
the other one to COM2. Make sure you put you mouse on COM2 if you have a
serial mouse. If that does not work, call the OEM.
